Belcroft Estates and Backyard Micro Wedding

This Belcroft Estates micro wedding with backyard reception is the perfect inspiration for a beautiful, intimate wedding!

Weddings this year definitely looked a little different. 2020 was a difficult year for engaged couples, and for the wedding industry as a whole. Many couples postponed their weddings hoping that things would open up by next year. A few even made the hard choice to cancel their wedding celebrations entirely. That’s why I’m extra grateful this year for amazing couples like Kaitlyn and Grant who fully embraced the micro wedding concept. It’s no secret that I was already a fan of small weddings (my own wedding was tiny with only immediate family) so I actually loved the more intimate nature of weddings this year! I think there’s something about celebrating with just the people that mean the most to you that makes the day even more special.

Kaitlyn and Grant started the day off at the Belcroft Estates where they got married under a canopy of trees and surrounded by gorgeous flowers from Bellwood Blooms. After the ceremony, friends and family enjoyed a short cocktail reception at the venue. Then we snuck off with the bride and groom for a few portraits around Belcroft’s picturesque grounds.

The other silver lining of 2020 weddings is all the outdoor receptions!

After the cocktail reception, Kaitlyn and Grant headed off to a small dinner reception at her parent’s backyard. Although there were only a few family members, their reception had the most beautiful details. As soon as I saw their set up I remarked that it looked like something from a styled shoot. I also love the idea of celebrating your marriage at a location like this that has special meaning. It was a relaxed evening with touching speeches, lots of time to play with extra portraits of the bride and groom and the most romantic first dance surrounded by candles and string lights. Maybe the best part is Kaitlyn and Grant, and their family, made sure that we felt like welcomed guests rather than just hired vendors.
