Ashley and Kevin’s Hatley Castle wedding in Victoria BC was definitely one of my favourites!
Ashley planned this destination wedding from Edmonton and it turned out so beautifully. In fact, it’s one of the most beautiful weddings i’ve ever been invited to photograph. Their wedding basically felt like being in a fairytale set in some beautiful old European town. Ashley has impeccable taste and put together a talented team of Vancouver and Victoria vendors to bring her vision to life.
We started the day off at the historic Villa Marco Pollo Inn where Ashley and her bridesmaids were getting ready in the Alexandria Suite. Poor Ashley was sick for her wedding day, but that didn’t stop her from enjoying the day. Just look at how cute their first look was! After a couple photos around the Inn we headed out to the historic Hatley Castle in Colwood.
I actually grew up in Victoria and have always loved Hatley Castle. Fun fact, when I was first learning photography as a teenager it was one of my favorite places to practice. Coming back to shoot a Hatley Castle wedding now was one of those surreal full circle moments.
Best of all, Ashley was as excited about taking photos as I was and scheduled lots of time for portraits around the castle and the gardens. Plus these two are just the sweetest :) I really loved how intimate and relaxed their wedding was despite the grandeur of the setting and all the luxurious details. After a garden ceremony, Ashley and Kevin joined their guests for a simple but equally beautiful reception. Danielle of Trend Event Decor put together so many pretty little details, and my favorite Victoria florist, Verbena, provided the romantic florals.
